Safety and Behaviour Policy
House of Tynes is committed to creating a safe, respectful and enjoyable environment for all guests, performers and staff. By attending Chapter 1: The Oxford Masquerade you agree to follow the guidelines in this policy to ensure the wellbeing of everyone present.
1. General Conduct
All guests are expected to behave respectfully towards others, including fellow attendees, performers, staff and venue personnel. Disruptive, aggressive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. Guests who do not adhere to this policy may be asked to leave the event without refund.
2. Alcohol and Intoxication
Alcohol will be served throughout the evening, and a cash bar will be available. Guests must be eighteen or over and may be asked to present ID. We reserve the right to refuse service or entry to anyone who appears intoxicated or whose behaviour may compromise safety.
3. Smoking and Vaping
Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside Oxford Town Hall. Guests may step outside the building to smoke or vape and re-enter afterwards. Standard re-entry checks may apply, and guests are asked to keep a respectful distance from the entrances.
4. Bag Checks and Security
For the safety of all guests, light security checks may take place upon entry. Large bags are not permitted inside event rooms and cannot be stored on site. Please bring only essential personal items.
5. Photography and Filming
Professional photographers and videographers will be present. Guests may take photos and short videos on their phones but should remain mindful of those around them. Large cameras and video equipment are not permitted. If you prefer not to appear in photography or video, please inform us on arrival and we will do our best to support this.
6. Immersive Performance Interactions
Performers may engage with guests as part of the Regency-inspired immersive environment. These interactions will always remain respectful and non-intrusive. Guests are asked to treat performers with the same courtesy and must not touch performers or disrupt scenes.
7. Safety During Dancing and Movement
Regency dancers and staff will guide guests through any participatory moments. Guests should follow instructions carefully and move at a comfortable pace. If you have mobility needs or require adaptations, please speak to a member of staff so we can support you.
8. Accessibility and Support Needs
We strive to ensure that all guests feel welcome and comfortable. If you have support, mobility or sensory needs, please contact us before the event so we can make appropriate arrangements. Essential carers may attend with a small catering fee, and eligibility will be confirmed privately.
9. Support Animals
Support animals may be permitted in line with Oxford Town Hall’s guidance. All support animals must remain under your care and control at all times. Some documentation may be required. Please consult the venue’s guidance and contact us in advance if you plan to bring a support animal.
10. Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency, guests must follow the directions given by staff and venue personnel. Exits and evacuation routes will be clearly signposted.
11. Right to Refuse Entry
House of Tynes reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any guest whose behaviour may compromise the safety, comfort or enjoyment of others.
12. Contact Us
If you have any concerns about safety, accessibility or behaviour before or during the event, you are welcome to contact us and we will do our best to assist.
